Wisconsin Cheesemaker Wins Award At World Contest

MADISON – The Europeans are still the big cheeses, but there is a big cheese
now in Watertown.

Swiss and Austrian cheesemakers took top honors Thursday at the 2010 World
Championship Cheese Contest in Madison, beating out some 2,300 entries from 20
countries ranging from Argentina to Switzerland.

But Michael Kraemer of Watertown is among the top cheesemakers with his cold
pack cheese.

Cheesemaker Cedric Fragniere took top honors with a Gruyere that judges lauded
for its creamy texture and light hint of herbs.

Kraemer took top honors in the cold pack category for his cheddar with beer cold
pack cheese.
