Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle said Friday he "assumes" he'll sign a bill into law legalizing limited raw milk sales, but he won't order the Legislature back to work to pass failed measures increasing renewable energy mandates and paying for transit needs in Milwaukee and the region.
Doyle said he doesn't like to call lawmakers into a special session unless he believes there are enough votes to pass the bills at issue.
The renewable energy bill was one of Doyle's top priorities and had been worked on for years, but it didn't even get a vote in the Senate or Assembly before lawmakers adjourned for the year early Friday morning.
