Shatto Milk Company Partners With Ronald McDonald House Charities Of Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – This year, Shatto Milk Company has been celebrating its 10-year anniversary by offering special edition flavors. Now, they are helping raise funds for a local charity through sales of a special flavor and a birthday party.

Shatto Milk Company has partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City (RMHC-KC) to supports its recently announced capital campaign, Hope Grows Here, to build a third house in Kansas City. RMHC-KC provides a home away from home for families while their children receive life-saving medical care at Kansas City-area hospitals.

Shatto Milk Company will be offering the following opportunities as part of this partnership with RMHC-KC:

  • Delivering the sixth limited-edition flavor – Birthday Cake Milk in bottles titled “HOME”– to its 2013 lineup to Kansas City area grocery store shelves on Sept. 23, with 20 percent of sales going to RMHC-KC.
  • Allowing consumers the opportunity to donate $10 to the worthy cause by texting HOUSE to 80888. Hang tags with this information will be on the quart and half-gallon bottles of all varieties of Shatto Milk starting the week of Sept. 23.
  • Hosting a Shatto birthday celebration to benefit RMHC-KC on Oct. 10 at The Guild. The event will feature food and drinks created with Shatto products by local companies including: Amigoni Urban Winery, Blanc Burgers + Bottles, Boulevard Brewing Company, Chef Jasper Mirabile of Jasper’s Restaurant, Chef Josh Eans of The American, Dark Horse Distillery, Eden Alley Café, The Local Pig, Ryan Maybee of Manifesto, Farm to Market Bread, Judi’s Bakery and The Westside Local. Public tickets are limited and available for $70 each. Please visit http://www.shattomilk.com/rsvp to purchase a ticket.

“We wanted to be able to offer a milk that symbolized the significance of this year for our family farm.  We also wanted to offer it in a bottle that reflects the importance of a place that provides comfort and support. For us, that is Kansas City. For others, it is a home away from home, similar to what is provided by the Ronald McDonald House Charities to families in a time of need,” said Barbara Shatto.

Fans of the limited edition flavor will need to act quickly. Just 4,000 of the Birthday Cake milk “HOME” bottles will be created. Once these bottles are gone, the Birthday Cake flavored milk will still be available in the company’s regular pint-sized bottles.

“We’re honored to have been selected to be such an integral part of Shatto Milk’s 10th anniversary year,” said Holly Buckendahl, CEO of RMHC-KC . “With help from partners like Shatto Milk who are investing in their local community, we will be able to serve hundreds more families each year.”

RMHC-KC currently operates two Ronald McDonald Houses in Kansas City, and recently announced a capital campaign to build its third house in Kansas City. The new 20-bedroom house, which is expected to open in the fall of 2014, is needed because more than a thousand families were turned away last year because the two Kansas City Ronald McDonald Houses were at capacity. These families, all of them caring for their critically ill children at area hospitals, were forced to find lodging elsewhere.
