After months of grading and years of planning, Hollandia Dairy is expanding its San Marcos creamery on Mission Road.
Two-story concrete walls are in place at the site, next to Mission Hills High School on East Mission Road, where earth-moving machines prepared the ground for the updated creamery.
The new facility will feature 30,000 square feet of new cold storage, along with a water treatment plant and office space.
Those additions, said Hollandia sales director Ken May, will allow the company to expand its milk processing operations.
"There is opportunity for a family-owned business like Hollandia to grow its sales," he said. "We need to have this expansion that will allow us to do so through better efficiencies."
