The federal government is rubbishing reports that it is set to make major concessions to U.S. milk producers as part of a trans-Pacific Partnership free trade deal.
The CBC reported Friday that Canadian negotiators were ready to open up a significant portion of the country’s dairy market to American producers. The report didn’t say how much access could be offered, but noted the U.S. wanted Canada to open up nine or 10 per cent of the market.
Ed Fast, minister of international trade, called reports of the concessions “absolutely false.”
