IDFA Offers Resources For Nutrition Facts Label Changes

IDFA has created for members a comprehensive summary that outlines the changes dairy companies must make to comply with the Food and Drug Administration’s complex final rules on the Nutrition Facts label. Members may log in to read the Regulatory Update, titled “FDA Announces Sweeping Changes for Nutrition Facts and Serving Sizes on Food Labels.”

IDFA also will offer a new webinar series this summer and fall to provide practical guidance for developing label redesign plans to meet the new requirements. The “Nutrition Label Reform Final Rule: Implications for the Dairy Industry Webinar Series” will be held August 22 and 23, with two-hour sessions each day, 1:00-3:00 p.m. Eastern time. IDFA will repeat the webinar September 20 and 21.

Updated versions of IDFA’s labeling manuals for milk, ice cream and cheese will be available later this year.
