IDDBA Releases Latest Original Research: Culinary Concierge: Engaging Millennials Through Meals

Madison, WI — The International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association (IDDBA)™ announced the release of its latest original research, Culinary Concierge: Engaging Millennials Through Meals. Developed in conjunction with The Hartman Group, the report examines how food retailers can connect with Millennial shoppers by better understanding their needs around culinary assistance and inspiration.

As part of the research, The Hartman Group tested the appeal and relevance of seven “personal chef services” developed by members of the IDDBA Show & Sell Center Meals Team. (The Show & Sell Center is a model store situated in the heart of IDDBA’s annual Dairy-Deli-Bake Seminar & Expo and features innovative merchandising, live demonstrations, and workshops.)

Among the findings in the report are:

  • Seeing food prepared gives a positive, fresh food experience to Millennials, who seek robust in-store experiences that allow them to see and interact with deli personnel.
  • Transparency and authenticity are of the utmost importance.
  • Millennials want good food that tastes great that they can access quickly at a fair price. This includes trying new foods and global flavors.
  • Key opportunities for retailers include: food ordering options; robust in-store experiences; and fresh, local, and inherently healthy products.

The free report, along with a photo album of Culinary Concierge concepts and merchandising ideas from the Show & Sell Center, is available here.
