With a little help from a Kentucky Department of Agriculture grant, Chaney’s Dairy in southern Warren County is ready for its latest innovation: processing its own milk.
Elizabeth Chaney Lunsford said Chaney’s has been approved for a Kentucky Proud grant that will reimburse the dairy for 50 percent of its expenses for advertising, marketing and reaching consumers. She said the money will be used to help pay for labels on the milk containers and the cost of having those labels designed.
Lunsford said she expects the grant to amount to about $5,000, which is short of the $8,000 maximum allowed under the KDA’s Kentucky Proud program.
