Carlisle, PA – Bob Schupper, dairy category manager at Giant Food Stores, has
been appointed by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to a federal Dairy
Industry Advisory Committee. Over the next two years, the 17-member committee
will review the issues of farm milk price volatility, dairy farmer profitability
and consolidation, and offer suggestions on ways the United States Department of
Agriculture can best address the needs of a struggling dairy industry. The
committee includes dairy producers and producer organizations, processors and
processor organizations, handlers, consumers, academia, retailers and state
agencies involved in organic and non-organic dairy.
Schupper, a dairy industry veteran for almost 25 years, is also a member of the
Retail Advisory Committee for MilkPep. He resides with his family in Hershey.
