Galens Homestead Acres, a small organic dairy farm on Taylor Road in Hopewell, has won national recognition for its organic milk. Steve, Paul and Hope Galens, who run the farm, won the Horizon Organic National Quality Award for the fourth time in five years.
The National Quality Award recognizes the top Horizon producer who consistently delivers the highest quality milk out of all of Horizon’s 700 producers nationwide. The winner is determined by analyzing numbers and categories that reflect milk quality.
The winner and their family are sent to the annual Farm Aid Concert, receive a special dinner in their honor and other perks. The Farm Aid 2016 will take place the weekend of the Sept. 17 in Bristow Virginia and feature stars including Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellancamp.
