GA Lawmaker Introduces Bill To Legalize Raw Milk

ATHENS, Ga. – State Rep. Doug McKillip, D-Athens, has introduced a bill
allowing Georgians to buy and drink raw, unpasteurized milk.

Raw milk now is illegal to sell in Georgia for human consumption, but activists
have been trying to change the law since state officials raided an Athens
farmers market last fall.

“It will be regulated like any lawful milk product,” McKillip said. “It puts it
under the Department of Agriculture. If you’re producing raw milk, you’re under
the same regulations as dairy farmers producing pasteurized milk.”
