Foremost Farms Tops Mozzarella And Reduced Fat Categories At NMPF Contest

BARABOO, WIS. — Foremost Farms USA® placed first for part skim mozzarella and reduced fat natural provolone cheese at the 2015 National Milk Producers Federation Championship Cheese Contest held at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Fla., during the NMPF annual meeting.

More than 145 entries were submitted from a variety of dairy cooperatives, totaling more than 2,500 pounds of cheese in hopes of coming out on top. Participants from all over the country proved to be no match for the world-class Wisconsin cheesemakers at Foremost Farms. Contestants from Foremost Farms submitted various cheeses in six different categories; earning first in their class for two varieties.

Doug Wilke, vice president of marketing and technology, works diligently on building customer and consumer trust. "Consumers want safe and quality cheese, and that is what we continuously produce. These award-winning cheeses are the same cheeses we market every day," said Wilke.

Here is a list of contest winners:

  • 1st place– Clayton, Wis. – reduced fat natural provolone
  • 1st place– Milan, Wis. – part skim mozzarella
  • 2nd place – Milan, Wis. – reduced fat 2% low moisture part skim mozzarella
  • 3rd place – Clayton, Wis. – natural flavor provolone
  • 3rd place – Marshfield, Wis. – colored, extra sharp cheddar
