Dean Foods, which sold or spun off the rapidly growing segments of its business, is looking to expand its offerings to the lactose intolerant crowd.
On a call with analysts, Dean Foods’ management said Monday that the Dallas-based dairy giant will expand its lactose free milk distribution, aiming to gain ground in a segment that’s already attracted soft drink giant Coca-Cola.
Some of Dean’s regional brands, including Land O Lakes and Dean’s, already sell milk aimed at consumers who can’t digest regular milk.
“Multiple regional brands of lactose-free milk, predominantly in the Midwest and North, began the transition to a single brand [name], DairyPure, this past September,” the company said in an emailed response. “We are focused on increasing distribution, yes.”
