Dairy sustainability is about more than just a carbon footprint. It is about our positive contributions to alleviate hunger, build a sustainable food system, and more.
As we embark on the fourth year of the U.S. Dairy Sustainability Awards program, we are increasingly aware of food, energy and water security challenges in communities across the country. But we are also seeing dairy operations who are changing the equation with innovative approaches such as partnering with a local Native American tribe to restore wildlife habitat, conserving water by recycling community wastewater, or building a new dairy with triple bottom line sustainability as the foundation.
That is why the 2015 U.S. Dairy Sustainability Awards introduces two new categories: Outstanding Achievement in Resource Stewardship and Outstanding Achievement in Community Partnerships. The awards will also continue to recognize the ‘best of the best’ with awards for Outstanding Dairy Farm Sustainability and Outstanding Dairy Processing and Manufacturing.
