Dairy Assessment Would Promote Education, Quality Of NC Milk

HOOKERTON, N.C. — Dairy farmers in North Carolina are coming together to promote higher quality products from their farms.

A vote was cast Jan. 20th to collect money from each farm to go towards education, quality assurance and product promotion. For every 12 gallons of milk, farmers will be charged two cents. Simply Natural Creamery in Greene County says they’re always working to improve and think this is beneficial to their business.

“Anything that helps with quality helps us,” says Michael Fulcher with Simply Natural Creamery. “We have safe guards and tests. We do a lot ourselves to help with the quality standards but this is just another layer to help us ensure that North Carolina milk is the highest quality milk in the country.”
