American Dairy Coalition Announces Governance Team

The American Dairy Coalition held their 2016 Annual Business Meeting on December 7th, 2016 to brief members of 2017 goals and federal policy initiatives  as well as announce ADC’s governance team.

ADC’s Skilled and Professional Team Includes:

John Jacobs, President: As President of the American Dairy Coalition, Jacobs feels the importance of member input in developing ADC’s policy positions cannot be understated. Jacobs currently is owner and manager of Green Valley Dairy, located in Northeastern Wisconsin. As a dairy producer, Jacobs understands the challenges our nation’s farmers experience firsthand. In the coming year, he is determined that farmers will have a voice on Capitol Hill as ADC moves forward to:

  • Ensure a reliable labor force through Immigration reform
  • Roll back overreaching regulations that do nothing more than cost farms money, without improving the environment
  • Increase access to quality healthcare and internet connections for rural farms
  • Improve rural road infrastructure
  • Provide farmer protection from animal rights activists
  • Increase exports of dairy products world-wide

Kari Kuehl, Chairperson of Executive Advisory Committee:
Kuehl is currently the Director of Sales at Feed Components, a progressive and transformational dairy nutrition group.  In her role as ADC Executive Advisory Committee Chairperson, Kuehl will provide strategic insight on moving ADC forward in the coming year.  Grassroot organizations, such as the ADC, can have a great impact on the ability of our industry to create manageable policy that will give everyone the opportunity to be successful.  ADC is a national organization and we continue to gain members in all areas to represent the voice and policy needs that will best suit our industry.

Jeff Burton, Lobbyist: Burton, who is President of Burton Strategy Group was announced as the American Dairy Coalition’s Lobbyist in Washington D.C.  Burton represents the ‘boots on the ground’ approach ADC takes towards representing our member’s policy goals.  Throughout Burton’s career he has built political relationships throughout D.C. with key political dignitaries, such as Mike Conaway (R-TX)- Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, who understand the struggles our nation’s farmers face.   During the ADC Annual Business Meeting, Burton provided key political insight on President-Elect Trump’s first 100 days in office and predictions on how he will work with congress to pass ADC’s legislative priorities.

Dave Crass, General Counsel: Michael Best Industry Group Chair and Agribusiness, Food & Beverage Attorney, was announced as General Counsel to the ADC team.  Growing up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin, Crass understands the myriad of regulatory and legal matters that trouble producers daily.  Crass is recognized as one of the top environmental attorneys in the Nation.  He will provide ADC with legal counsel on  policy issues, as well as offer his knowledge and expertise to top level ADC producer members.

Laurie Fischer, CEO: Rounding out the American Dairy Coalition leadership team is ADC Founder, Laurie Fischer, who will take on the role of CEO.  Laurie is taking the Nation’s dairy producer’s to an entirely new level through the American Dairy Coalition.  Legislators on Capitol Hill have been asking for an organization which represents the voice of dairy farmers.  With little over a year in action, the American Dairy Coalition is representing over 30,000 dairy farmers throughout the United States.  Laurie believes successful policy making it needed to best serve our industry, and this begins in Washington, D. C.  She plans to focus only on top priority issues in order to remain nimble and quickly adapt to the ever changing federal policy making environment.
