Smiles and platitudes were the order of the day at Monday’s grand opening of Alpina Foods’ yogurt plant in the town of Batavia.
“This is an important day for Alpina and New York state,” Alpina chief executive officer Julian Jaramillo said.
The new manufacturing facility is “a symbol of great things to come,” the CEO said.
More than 100 people attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The crowd also had a chance to tour the plant, which several weeks ago started running test batches of Greek yogurt and other products it will produce.
