California Dungeness Crab Season Delayed Yet Again

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife announced it will further delay the season opener for the commercial Dungeness crab fishery off the central and southern coasts.

CFIA Announces Detection of MSX and Dermo in oysters in New Brunswick

MSX and Dermo do not pose risks to human health or food safety. However, they cause increased oyster mortality and decreased growth rates. This is the first confirmed case of MSX in New Brunswick, and the first confirmed case of Dermo in Canada.

In 2022, Americans consumed 19.7 pounds of seafood per capita, down 0.8 pounds from 2021. The latest numbers show a continuation of the “tinned fish” craze featuring increases in consumption of canned tuna, canned shellfish and canned sardines.
