Wisconsin's Baptista's Bakery Plans To Expand Franklin Plant, Add 200 Jobs

The growing popularity of healthier snacks is bringing healthy growth to Franklin-based Baptista's Bakery Inc., which announced plans Thursday to add 200 jobs – more than doubling its workforce – over a period of years.

Baptista's develops and makes baked potato crisps, pretzels and other snacks that are sold under the brand names of other food companies. Baptista's, which has 160 employees, plans to add production lines with a 120,000-square-foot expansion at the company's factory in Franklin Business Park.

That $70 million project, which is seeking city and state financing help, would nearly double the size of the 135,000-square-foot facility at 4625 W. Oakwood Park Drive.

Baptista's has seen strong sales growth for years, said President Tom Howe.
