Ventura Baker Named To 1st American Team For Fete Du Pain Competition In Paris

Man may not live by bread alone, but don't tell that to the people of France.

Two of the country's most instantly recognizable cultural touchstones — the baguette and the Notre-Dame de Paris — will be featured when the 22nd annual Fête du Pain (aka Celebration of Bread) brings hundreds of bakers from around the world to a 12,000-square-foot tent filled with kitchens just steps from the Gothic cathedral.

Timed to coincide with the birth date of Saint Honoré, the patron saint of bakers and pastry chefs, the nearly two-week-long event will culminate May 15 with a contest to see which of those temporary kitchens produces the best baguette de tradition.
