The Cup plans to grow its cupcake delivery business and expand sales to more grocery stores and other retailers in the St. Louis region.
Founded in 2007, the company that touts itself as St. Louis’ first gourmet cupcake bakery has grown to three locations: the Central West End, Chesterfield and Edwardsville. As part of its planned distribution expansion, The Cup said Monday it will close its Chesterfield store on Dec. 24 upon the expiration of its lease.
Closing the three-year-old Chesterfield store was a difficult decision, said owner Ericka Frank. ”This was not an easy decision, and we have so many regulars who visit the store.” Employees at the Chesterfield store are being offered jobs elsewhere in the company, she said.
