Michigan City contract baker Hearthside Food Solutions LLC will invest $3.8 million to grow its operation in the northwestern Indiana city, adding as many as 100 jobs within the next three years.
State officials announced the expansion plans Friday morning.
Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company as much as $750,000 in performance-based tax credits based on job creation. Michigan City will provide an additional property-tax abatement at the request of the Michigan City Economic Development Corp.
Hearthside has 320 employees in Michigan City and plans to begin hiring additional production and supervisory workers in the second quarter of this year. The $3.8 million investment from the company will go toward construction of 23,000 square feet of additional production space for the addition of new snack-cake and cookie baking lines.
