Sample French Breads At Market Street’s International Food Expo

LUBBOCK, Texas – Market Street will take guests around the world on their next shopping trip during its International Food Expo May 1-2 at all 10 Market Street locations in north and west Texas.
Hours for the event are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

Market Street guests will encounter a new country with its own distinctive cultural flair each time they travel across international lines into a different department. Store “ambassadors” representing countries such as France, Australia, Italy and Japan will offer free samples of native cuisine along with information about the featured food items and products corresponding to each area.

“This event is going to be really special,” said Wes Jackson, chief merchandising officer for United Supermarket, LLC, Market Street’s parent company. “As guests make their way around the store, each aisle and department brings a new opportunity for them to experience a new, regional flavor. For those unable to travel to foreign places and taste exotic foods, the International Food Expo will bring that zest right to the store.”

At the expo, guests can expect samplings and products such as:

•Freshly-baked French breads and spreads,
•Italian pasta with parmesan-crusted chicken breasts and Mediterranean-crusted salmon,
•Golden pineapple from Costa Rica,
•Fine chocolates from Germany and Spain,
•Guatemalan banana plants and bonsai trees, and
•Wines from Australia and Germany.
The International Food Expo is the second in a series of similar events to be hosted by Market Street in the coming months. Others are:

•The Best of Texas Expo, highlighting great products from The Lone Star State, July 31-Aug. 1.
•Entertaining and Celebration Expo, Nov. 6-7.
•Healthy New You Expo, Jan. 15-16, 2011.
Market Street is a unique shopping experience that combines the everyday groceries guests need with the specialty items, whole-health/gourmet products and pre-prepared foods they want. Market Street locations can be found in Allen, Amarillo, Colleyville, Coppell, Frisco, Lubbock (2), McKinney, Plano and Wichita Falls.
