After participating in the ABA Meet and Greet, held Nov. 16, Rep. Tom Marino (R-PA) agreed to cosponsor the Free Market Sugar Act – key legislation on which ABA is working diligently to get passed.
A former production manager at Stroehmann’s Bakeries gives Rep. Marino a valuable and unique knowledge of the baking industry that most others in Congress do not have. Rep. Marino left the baking industry to pursue his law degree, but spoke fondly of Harold Stroehmann and the relationship they had during his time at the company.
In addition to sugar reform, attendees discussed the upcoming Farm Bill, deficit reduction and the need for increased Congressional oversight of regulatory agencies.
