SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The parent company of Price Cutter grocery stores is making some big changes to the grocery store landscape in Springfield. Hy-Vee is countering those changes with some of its own.
The chief executive officer of RPCS Foods say four new stores will open in the city over the next few months. None of the new stores, according to CEO Erick Taylor, will be under the Price Cutter brand. Instead, they will be new grocery store concepts for Springfield. The former Dillon's store on West Battlefield Road at Kansas Expressway is slated to become a King Cash Saver.
Meanwhile, Hy-Vee still plans to build a new store on the south side of East Sunshine Street between Link and Enterprise avenues, according to local managers. Construction could start this fall, but that's not certain.
