Howdy Holmes believes he can have his cake mix and eat it too.
The fourth-generation owner of Chelsea Milling Company—the maker of Jiffy Mix—is putting long-discussed plans into motion with a new $25 million mixing tower.
The tower, which will eventually be attached to a new packaging plant and support building, is part of efforts to diversify a company known primarily for the small blue boxes on grocery store shelves.
"As home baking and eating at home has has become less desirable these days," fourth-generation owner Howdy Holmes said.
