Lewis Bakeries Continues To Grow From Its Horse-And-Buggy-Days Start

MURFREESBORO — Although the Lewis brothers began their bakery operations in the horse-and-buggy days, its Murfreesboro plant now employs more than 400 full- and part-time workers and the family-owned business continues to expand.

“We have five plants: Murfreesboro, Evansville Ind., Vincennes, Ind., La Porte Ind., and Fort Wayne Ind.,” said Rick Hardesty vice president and general manager of the Murfreesboro Lewis Bakeries plant for the past 17 years.

He worked for the company in St. Louis before coming to Rutherford County.
