However, according to a recent consumer survey conducted by King’s Hawaiian, 49 percent of parents say their kids come home with uneaten sandwiches. Thirty-seven percent of parents say that peanut butter and jelly is the top sandwich choice among their kids. Parents can make a basic peanut butter and jelly sandwich even better by using King’s Hawaiian bread or rolls.

King’s Hawaiian Peanut Butter and Jelly

Serves: 2

Ingredients

•1 Tbsp. peanut butter
•1 Tbsp. of your favorite jelly
•2 King’s Hawaiian Original Sweet Mini Sub Rolls
Preparation
1. Spread a layer of peanut butter on one side of each King’s Hawaiian Mini Sub Roll.
2. Add a layer of jelly on top of the peanut butter.
3. Top the peanut butter and jelly with roll tops. Cut in half if desired and serve.

Hawaiian Pizza Mini Sub Sandwich

Serves: 4

Ingredients

•1 (20-oz.) can crushed pineapple, drained
•1 (5-oz.) can prepared pizza sauce
•4 King’s Hawaiian Original Sweet Mini Sub Rolls
•12 oz. deli-sliced ham
•4 slices provolone cheese
Preparation
1. Place drained pineapple on several layers of paper towels. Roll up and squeeze out excess water. Set aside.
2. Spread pizza sauce on both sides of King’s Hawaiian Mini Sub Rolls.
3. Layer ham, cheese and pineapple on the bottom half of the rolls and cover with roll tops and serve.

Variation:

These sandwiches also are delicious served hot. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Open rolls and place, cut side up, on a baking sheet. Spread pizza sauce on top of rolls. Add ham and cheese then sprinkle with pineapple. Bake open-faced until cheese has melted. Fold rolls together and serve.
