Mindy Segal is turning her decade-long dream of opening a bakery into a reality.
The 2012 James Beard winner for best pastry chef and owner of Wicker Park's Hot Chocolate will open a 6,000-square-foot Logan Square bakery in early summer. It will be split among wholesale, retail and a cafe. Ms. Segal is designing the space, starting with the kitchen.
Hot Chocolate fans will still find her famous cocoa drinks at the new bakery, along with fresh drip coffee, to pair with baked goods based on seasonal ingredients and a mixture of sweets and savories.
