As a senior at the University of Delaware living above the just-opened SAS Cupcakes, it was only natural that Lauren Petrick, 26, stop in every day to satisfy her sweet tooth. A banana cream cheese cupcake. Every day.
Petrick loved the shop, loved the cupcakes and had experience in the food service industry, so she pledged her allegiance to the husband and wife who owned SAS. They didn't have an opening for her to work there yet, but Petrick wouldn't give up.
She was in love.
"If you need anything, I live upstairs, so just let me know!" she remembers telling them. "They finally were just like, 'We need to hire this girl because she's here all the time.'"
