Hostess Brands Inc. is permanently closing three bakeries – including the Butternut Bread Co. facility in Queensgate – following a nationwide strike by its bakers union.
The Cincinnati factory at 747 W. Fifth St. employs roughly 150 people, said James Yett, the bakery’s Local 57 union chief.
Hostess, maker of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread, said Monday that the strike prevented it from producing and delivering products.
Bakeries will also be closed in Seattle and St. Louis. In all, the three facilities employ 627 workers.
