AUSTIN – H-E-B is removing some of its Hill Country Fare bread products from its shelves after discovering an "unfavorable aroma" in the items.
H-E-B says the smell and flavor are caused by a yeast imbalance. They said the smell and flavor do not pose a health risk but they voluntarily removed the products because it doesn't meet their quality standard.
H-E-B says the affected items are all H-E-B and Hill Country Fare bread products including hamburger and hotdog buns with a best by date between June 26 and July 2. The items were distributed to stores in Texas and Mexico.
