French baker and pastry chef Franck Bouget has joined the Spencer’s Fresh Markets team, said a spokesman for the local supermarket chain.
For more than a decade, Franck was the lead pastry chef at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo.
This week, Bouget will be at Spencer’s locations to offer in-store sampling of his signature “cake with a crust.”
The unique cakes are filled with European-style crèmes and piled high with rich chocolate curls resting on a baked meringue crust.
Bouget plans to be at the farmers market held at the Arroyo Grande location from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
