Cozonac, A Traditional Romanian Soft & Rich Bread

Cozonac, is usually eaten on holidays, such as Christmas and Easter.

It is a soft & rich bread, consumed as dessert or as a light afternoon snack. It is usually prepared with sugar, eggs, milk, cocoa, nuts and raisins. Although Cozonac originally comes from ancient Egypt, the recipe has been changed and enriched throughout the years. It was in 1718 that the first recipe of Cozonac was written in a British Cook Book, and the author recommended that Cozonac should be cooked in long, slim trays, a form that is still being used today.

Today, this dessert with a long history is prepared mainly in the southeastern European countries, especially in Romania, where it is considered a traditional food!
