Celebrate Grilled Cheese Month With La Brea Bakery Artisan Bread

Los Angeles, CA — The celebrated grilled cheese has always been an American
favorite, and its about to get even bigger. La Brea Bakerys founder Chef Nancy
Silverton and La Brea Bakery teamed up to create tempting grilled cheese recipes
in celebration of Aprils Grilled Cheese Month to empower home chefs to create
their own special grilled cheese events at home.

Known as the ultimate comfort food, over 25 million Americans eat grilled cheese
at least twice a month. With consumer palates constantly evolving, upscale
versions of the classic grilled cheese are in demand. La Brea Bakery is
responding by offering deliciously refined recipes inspired by Nancy Silvertons
Sandwich Book. Over 15 years ago, Silverton, who is an avid grilled cheese
aficionado, decided to convert the patio of her award-winning Los Angeles
restaurant, Campanile, into a grilled cheese sandwich bar. Thursdays Sandwich
Night became so popular that Silverton wrote her book to inspire restaurant
guests to start grilled cheese traditions of their own.

“Whether its because of childhood memories or the comfort of certain
ingredients combined together, everybody loves sandwiches,” says Silverton. “I
understand the simple pleasure of eating an unforgettable grilled cheese
sandwich and when millions of Americans share the same craving, I am open to
sharing my secrets to help them make their own sandwiches memorable.”

On April 14th, Silverton is scheduled to showcase never-before-seen grilled
cheese recipes on the Today Show with Al Roker. Exclusive recipes from this
segment will be posted on the Today Show website and on La Brea Bakerys
Facebook page. Later that day, Silverton will talk grilled cheese on the
Martha Stewart Living Radio program via Sirius XM satellite radio.

To up the grilled cheese ante, La Brea Bakery is partnering with Foodbuzz.com as
the Flavor of the Month for April to encourage bloggers within the community
to create their own specialty grilled cheese sandwiches using La Brea Bakery
bread. Visitors to the Foodbuzz.com website will have a chance to view the blog
posts including these recipes for further inspiration.

“Having such food enthusiasts as the Foodbuzz community involved with this
program just shows us where grilled cheese is going,” says Jon Davis, vice
president of culinary development at La Brea Bakery. “Grilled cheese is
something that we have been doing in our Original Bakery for 20 years, but now
were just taking it to the next level. When the American public designates a
month to something meaningful to them, you pay attention and give them the best
you have to offer.”
