Bob’s Bakery In Adams Center, NY To Close After 60 Years Of Business

ADAMS CENTER, N.Y. — After almost 60 years of business Bob’s Bakery is shutting off its ovens, cleaning out the cupboards and closing its doors for good next month.

Franklin B. “Benny” Kenyon, 69, who took over the family bakery in 1970, said a struggling economy and concern for his own health left him little choice in deciding to make his last batch of doughnuts.

“I’ve spent a lot of time in the hospitals,” Kenyon said. “I’ve had heart attacks and I’ve got stints in my heart and in my neck.”

Thirteen years ago, Caroline M., his wife, battled cancer while the couple’s son, Franklin B., Jr., suffered a heart attack two years ago.
