The Blue Coast Bakers plant on U.S. 1, about a mile west of Destination Daytona, is finally expected to begin operation this fall.
Kambiz Zarrabi, the commercial wholesale bakery's managing director, had hoped to begin operation early this year but ran into unexpected delays related to renovating an aging building that was previously a distribution center for US Foods.
"As you know an older building has many surprises that we are working on," Zarrabi wrote in an email responding to an inquiry by The News-Journal this past week.
