With Bimbo Bakeries now planning to open its $75 million Upper Macungie baking plant in February, the company has decided to push back the closure of its Wilson Borough bakery by about a month until Valentine's Day at the earliest.
The company notified the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry earlier this month that it would keep the former Maier's bakery in Wilson Borough, which now operates under the company's Orograin flag, open until mid-February.
The Wilson bakery, which makes hot dog and hamburger buns, is located at 2400 Northampton Street. It was slated to close on Jan. 3, but Bimbo notified the state on that date that it would remain open until between Feb. 14 and Feb. 28.
