Pennsylvania-based Bimbo Bakeries announced Thursday it will cease operations at its Knoxville bakery at 2110 Chapman Highway by May 21, ending jobs for 62 people.
Production at the Chapman Highway location, which produces bread and buns, will be shifted to other bakeries in the company's network.
"This was a difficult decision because of the great team of associates at the Knoxville Bakery," David Tormena, Bimbo Bakeries' regional vice president of Mid Atlantic region operations, said in a statement.
