Artisanal Bakery Goes Upscale At Fortinos

The loaves are multiplying.

Pane Fresco, the popular artisanal bakery in downtown Burlington, has teamed with Fortinos supermarkets to launch a new project involving bread and pizza kiosks in select stores.

It’s also about expanding and branding Pane Fresco as the local leader in what the food retail industry calls “home meal replacement.” That’s where you go the store to buy prepared takeout foods — whether it be roast beef, chicken wings, soup, paninis or sushi — that are of comparable quality to what you would make yourself. The food has to be fresh, handmade and healthy.

The project was unveiled last Thursday with the opening of the new 80,000-square-foot Fortinos in a plaza at the corner of Appleby Line and Highway 5 in Burlington.
