You might know Aliyyah Baylor from an episode of "Throwdown with Bobby Flay," where the TV chef challenged her three-generation-old German chocolate cake recipe — and lost.
Her recipe was published in the cookbook "Bobby Flay's Throwdown" in October of 2010, but it's not the only thing that makes New City resident Baylor notable.
Baylor's Harlem bakery, Make My Cake, is in the business of satisfying sweet-toothed New Yorkers with Southern-style treats like sweet potato cheesecakes, a highly sought red velvet cake, cherry turnovers and a beautiful blueberry cobbler.
