ABA To Provide Feedback On FDA Fiber Guidelines

This week FDA published its request for scientific data, information and comments to help it determine whether certain fibers should be added to the definition of “dietary fiber” published as part of the Nutrition Facts Label (NFL) final rule.

Additionally,  with the request, FDA published draft guidance to help industry understand how FDA reviews the scientific evidence to determine whether another 26 fibers beyond the seven identified in the NFL rule should be added to the regulations. ABA’s FTRAC will have 45 days to comment on FDA’s review of the science with respect to the 26 additional specific types of fiber.
