ABA Goes To The Big Apple For The Oscars, Oscars Of Baking That Is!

Last week, ABA’s Kelly Kotche, Director, Membership & Engagement, and Samantha Moore, Director, Meetings & Education, represented ABA at the Tiptree World Bread Awards USA with Food is GREAT awards reception held in New York. This was the first time that the UK’s leading awards for the art of bread making was held in the United States.

Often called “The Oscars of Baking,” the bread awards began in 2013 and is considered the top annual competition for professional bakers in the United Kingdom.  Caroline Kenyon, the Awards Founder/Director, was inspired to bring them to the U.S. after coming to a family wedding in New York in the summer of 2016.

Artisan bakers sent bread to the competition from all over the country to be in contention for the best-in-bread award. The submissions were anonymous to the judges, and the winners were announced at a regal reception held at Landmark on the Park, Manhattan, N.Y., on Wed.,  Nov., 14.
