ABA B&CMA Merger Vote To Occur At ABA 2017 Convention

WASHINGTON, DC – The All Membership Meeting at the American Bakers Association (ABA) 2017 Convention will be a must-attend event for ABA members this year as new conversations are sparked about opportunities for the baking industry and a vote is taken on the future of the association.

During this March 26 meeting, the ABA Membership will vote on the proposed merger of the American Bakers Association and the Biscuit and Cracker Manufacturers’ Association (B&CMA). The ABA Board of Governors received the Resolution for Consideration last week, which both the ABA Executive Committee and Board of Directors have unanimously recommended for approval. The B&CMA 114th Annual Convention is co-located with the 2017 ABA Convention, presenting an opportunity for a merger signing ceremony during the All Membership Meeting if approval from each organization’s membership is received.

“After many meetings and conversations with ABA and B&CMA stakeholders, it is clear that there are tremendous synergies and that combining the two organizations will return significant added value for the industry,” said ABA President and CEO Robb MacKie. “Dave Van Laar and I are both very excited about what the future holds.”

Also during the All Membership Meeting, the Grain Foods Foundation will present the highly popular Fresh Take Talks from IBIE 2016. This round of engaging educational sessions will feature experts in health, media and social trends offering convention attendees new information that will help shape their business. The ABA Government Relations professional staff will also be bringing an interactive and engaging conversation to the stage as they share ABA’s policy priorities for 2017 and what attendees can expect from Washington in the coming year.
