Like little kids in a candy store, customers lined up to sample and then buy brownies, eclairs and other treats that typically are denied to them.
The Sugarless World Bakery sold out four times during the shop’s grand opening Aug. 27.
“We weren’t expecting that,” said owner Marie Martinez, who runs the Mokena bakery with her dad, Richard.
“It was a little overwhelming but a good problem to have,” Marie Martinez said.
Things were complicated further by the unavailability of certain ingredients, thanks to Hurricane Irene.
