HEGINS, Penn. Sept. 1, 2010 – Huntsinger Farms Inc., a Hegins, PA-based grower and packer of premium Red, White and Yukon Gold potatoes, has launched three new products lines: Dinner Delights, Supper Supremes and Petitetoes.
Designed to suit the needs of today’s consumers, the innovative packaging includes an example of what each variety is “especially good for,” such as “baking” (Gourmet White Potatoes), “mashing with skins on” (Gourmet Red Potatoes), and “roasting and mashing” (Gourmet Golden Potatoes). One the back of each bag, there are serving suggestions for oven-baked, mashed and oven-roasted potatoes. The uniform sizing also provides cooking convenience and allows all potatoes to cook at the same time. This keeps the product fresh since it gets used quicker than produce packed in larger quantities.
The new products are geared toward nutrition-conscious consumers, single people, small families, seniors and apartment-dwellers with limited storage space. “They’re also perfect for picky loose potato buyers, who want every potato almost perfect,” explains Frank Tonart, sales manager. “Plus, the patented eye-catching packaging prevents greening.”
The Petitetoes are packed in 1.5-pound poly anti-greening bags, 12 to a box. Supper Supremes & Dinner Delights are each packed in 2.5-pound anti-greening bags, 12 to a box. “They are almost perfect in size to assure uniform cooking,” Tonart notes. “The concept appeals to anyone who may not be able to use a 5-pound bag of Reds, Whites of Yukon Golds.”
Huntsinger Farms provides traceability of all its potatoes. Its bags include numbers that indicate the day the product was packed and the field it came from. A national leader in anti-greening packaging, Huntsinger Farms offers a large variety of packs in paper, poly and cartons.
