CONCORD, N.C. – Roush Fenway Racing announced today that Blackwell Angus Beef will extend its sponsorship of the No. 6 entry in the Nationwide Series for three additional races in 2010 with rookie of the year contender Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. Beginning this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Blackwell Angus Beef will adorn Stenhouse’s No. 6 Ford. Blackwell Angus Beef will also be on the car in Nationwide Series races at Auto Club Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway this fall.
Stenhouse, 22, got his start at Roush Fenway Racing in the ARCA Series in 2008. In 21 races in the ARCA Series, Stenhouse scored two victories, 10 top-fives, 14 top-10s and three poles while finishing fourth in the championship. In 2009, Stenhouse climbed the ladder to the Nationwide Series, running seven races for Roush Fenway. To date, the Olive Branch, Miss., native has two top-fives, five top-10s and one pole in 29 career NNS starts.
“Roush Fenway Racing continues to attract great sponsors, and I am looking forward to building a solid relationship with the people at Blackwell Angus Beef this year and hopefully into the future,” said Stenhouse, who always enjoys a quality steak. “We had them on the car in July at Daytona and we finished third, which is a career-best for me, so I can’t wait to hop in the No. 6 Blackwell Angus Beef Ford in Atlanta this weekend where we can continue that magic.”
Ivan Brown, brand manager for Cargill Angus programs reiterated Stenhouse’s excitement about the partnership’s growth.
“We’re pleased to have our Blackwell Angus Beef brand sponsor the No. 6 Ford this weekend,” said Brown. “We’ve experienced a solid level of success through the Blackwell Angus beef partnership with Roush Fenway to date in 2010. The program has led to a higher level of engagement with our retail grocery customers. We’ve also been able to leverage the partnership as a way to connect with beef enthusiast consumers who share a common passion for auto racing.
“Our internal team has benefited from the program with a higher level of inspiration and success. The Blackwell Angus Beef program has experienced a positive growth that’s in part due to the success of this partnership. More importantly, the racing program has led to growth and success for our retail customers.”
Catch Stenhouse and the No. 6 Blackwell Angus Beef team in the Great Clips 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 with race coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. ED on ESPN2.
