HORSHAM, PA — The bakers of Arnold® and Oroweat® Sandwich Thins® rolls are teaming with Food Network Chef Claire Robinson, host of “5 Ingredient Fix,” to inspire creativity in the kitchen through the “Spin on Thin” recipe contest. Food lovers from coast to coast are invited to develop recipes — from the simple to the extravagant, the straightforward to the sublime — made with any flavor of Sandwich Thins® rolls. Starting on August 16, entrants can submit their original creations for a chance to win $2,000 cash and an all-expense paid trip to New York, one of Robinson’s favorite foodie cities.
Robinson encourages regular experimentation while cooking, and knows it can be challenging to develop new meal ideas regularly. “Spin on Thin” aims to promote imagination in the kitchen by providing five different themes as the starting points for recipe creation. “It’s tough to be the executive chef of your own home. But start with recipes you already know and love, and just put a ‘spin’ to it. Add an ingredient, swap out a new one,” said Robinson. “I find cooking inspiration by starting with just one ingredient, then building off that, and Sandwich Thins® rolls are a great jumping off point for home chefs. They provide an easy and delicious means of updating recipes to match contemporary tastes and dietary concerns, and we can’t wait to sample the creations this contest is bound to inspire.”
The “Spin on Thin” contest entry period, which lasts between August 16 and November 29, is broken up into five distinct periods that reflects Claire’s diverse culinary background. To enter, submit an original sandwich recipe, using Arnold and Oroweat Sandwich Thins® rolls, along with a photograph of the creation, based on the below themes:
•Theme 1: 8/16/10 – 9/6/10
Simply Delicious: straightforward, with no more than six ingredients
•Theme 2: 9/6/10 – 9/27/10
Fall Harvest: seasonally-based, and specifically corresponding to the fall
•Theme 3: 9/27/10 – 10/18/10
Unexpected Adventure: creative, surprising ingredient combinations
•Theme 4: 10/18/10 – 11/8/10
International Inspiration: global, with elements from any corner of the world
•Theme 5: 11/8/10 – 11/29/10
Spin on Thin: a healthy version of a classic, favorite recipe
A panel of qualified judges will select a single finalist per theme, each of whom will receive a cash prize of $1,000. Once all five entry periods have reached completion, the five finalists’ recipes will be featured on the contest website for public voting. Starting on December 13, the online community can vote to determine the grand prize winner to receive an additional $1,000, as well as an all-expense paid trip to New York City.
