Stephen Carley of El Pollo Loco Inc. has been chosen by Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc. to replace exiting CEO Dennis Mullen, the restaurant company said Thursday.
Carley will take over for Mullen on Sept. 13, and possibly earlier than that, Red Robin (NASDAQ: RRGB) said.
Carley currently is president and CEO of the Costa Mesa, Calif.-based El Pollo Loco (The Crazy Chicken) restaurant chain. He tendered his resignation to the company, effective Sept. 12, on Thursday, according to QSRMagazine.com.
El Pollo Loco is a quick-service restaurant chain specializing in Mexican-style, flame-grilled chicken.
Based in Greenwood Village, Red Robin owns and/or operates more than 440 casual-dining restaurants nationwide.
