Central Louisiana Seafood Sellers Feel Effects Of Spill

The BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has put a damper on the local seafood market, but there still is plenty of product available.

Unfortunately, there aren't many people willing to pay the high prices right now, said Pineville resident Terry Lofton, who set up a stand near Buhlow Fun Park over the past several days.

Lofton said the oil spill has scared away many potential customers, and it's "depressing" to think about the lack of business he's had in recent days.

He set up shop on Saturday, and by Monday afternoon, he'd sold "maybe 20 pounds" of shrimp.
